Senior Accountant Financial Reporting
Location: Troy, MI
Position Summary
The Senior Accountant is responsible for all areas relating to financial reporting. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities, including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, year-end audit preparation and the support of budget and forecast activities. The Senior Accountant will interact with senior leadership.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Prepare and enter daily entries into the general ledger
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly bank reconciliations
- Responsible for general ledger reconciliations by Loan, Branch, Department, and Employee
- Responsible for all data import templates for accounting system.
- Responsible for the timely weekly soft-monthly close for internal reporting
- Responsible for the timely monthly close and preparation of financial statement package
- Investigate account variance analysis
- Proactively identify and resolve inaccuracies in general ledger
- Prepare key financial and operational reports, including comparative analysis
- Evaluating large quantities of data
- Support the year-end audit process
- Establish and maintain systems and internal controls
- Participate in process improvement projects, including development and implementation of new accounting processes to achieve accuracy and efficiency best practices
- Respond to CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial analysis and deadlines
- Corroborate with senior leadership and staff to complete various value-added financial projects
- Complete special projects and special reports as assigned
Skill Requirements
- Proficient with data bases: structure, set-up and usage
- Advance ability in Excel, Power Query
- Proficient in Microsoft Dynamics NAV or similar accounting software package
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Superior people skills: in person, on the phone, by email
- Well-organized with the ability to multi-task
- Maintain discretion and keep all financial information confidential
- Attention to detail, work under pressure and meet deadlines
- High aptitude for critical thinking and analysis
- Seeks to create, document and/or improve processes
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting
- 3-5 years general ledger, budgeting/forecasting, and financial reporting experience
